Magic: The Gathering — Prerelease Packs

A Magic: The Gathering prerelease pack is your ticket to the most exciting weekend of every new set. Each pack contains the boosters you need to build a sealed deck on the spot, along with a date-stamped foil promo rare or mythic that marks the occasion. Prereleases are where players get their first taste of new mechanics, swap stories about big pulls, and play casual sealed games in a relaxed, welcoming setting — no deck required beforehand. Sealed play levels the field, so prereleases are a great first event for newer players as well as a favourite for veterans.

Boreal Gaming stocks MTG prerelease packs for new releases and keeps remaining packs from earlier sets available while supplies last. Opened at home, a prerelease pack makes a fun sealed challenge for two players, and the promo card makes it a standout gift for any Magic fan. Recent releases like The Hobbit and Reality Fracture each launched with their own prerelease kits, and new ones arrive with every set.

Come to the table prepared. Sleeve your sealed deck with card sleeves, bring a deck box to carry it home safely, and add a playmat for a better playing surface. Pulled something you want to build around? Our Magic singles make it easy to finish the deck after the event.

Boreal Gaming is Niagara's local game store for Magic prereleases, and these weekends are some of the best days of the year in store. Check our Magic events for upcoming prerelease dates and tickets, or order packs online for shipping across Canada. New players are always welcome, and our team is happy to help you build your first sealed deck. Tickets often sell out, so reserve your seat early.
