Description

Loyalty, Lies, and One Very Long Table

Someone at the table is lying. You just don't know who. Every accusation lands with a little too much confidence, every defense sounds just a little rehearsed, and somewhere in the room, Merlin is holding his breath — hoping the assassin hasn't already figured him out. Avalon is the social deduction game that turns any group of friends into suspects, and the tension it builds in fifteen minutes can outlast conversations about it for years.

Camelot Under Siege

Z-Man Games' The Resistance: Avalon drops players into Arthurian legend with one simple premise: loyal servants of Arthur are trying to complete quests, while Mordred's hidden minions are sabotaging them from within. Each round, a team is proposed, the table votes on whether to send them, and the chosen players secretly decide whether the quest succeeds or fails — without revealing anything. Good players must reason out the traitors from crumbs of behavior. The traitors must lie convincingly enough to survive the vote and slip failures through undetected.

The Big Box Edition brings together the complete Avalon experience in one definitive package. Alongside the base game, it includes character expansions that dramatically shift the dynamics of any session — Merlin, Percival, Morgana, Oberon, and the Assassin each add new layers of information, misdirection, and risk that keep the game fresh across dozens of plays.

Who Belongs at This Table

Avalon plays best with five to ten players, and it genuinely scales — the five-player game is tight and surgical, while a ten-player session becomes gloriously chaotic. It's a natural fit for game nights with a full room, parties where people want something with more bite than trivia, or any group that enjoys reading people as much as following rules. There's no board to manage and almost no setup time, making it an easy pull for groups that don't want to spend twenty minutes learning mechanics before they start playing. The age recommendation sits at thirteen and up, but sharp younger players won't struggle — the real requirement is a willingness to bluff with a straight face.

What's in the Box

The Big Box Edition is built to last. Expect thick character cards with clear iconography, voting tokens, quest tokens, and the Lady of the Lake card that adds an extra investigation mechanic for groups ready to use it. The Arthurian artwork gives the game a sense of place without taking itself too seriously — it's thematic enough to feel atmospheric, clean enough to read across a crowded table. The box organizes everything neatly, so setup really is as fast as advertised.
