The Circle of Knowledge — If You Can Find It

There is something deeply satisfying about the moment a Venn diagram suddenly makes sense. One card placed with confidence. Another slid cautiously toward the overlap. And then someone drops a card in the very centre — the intersection of all three rings — and the whole table erupts debating whether a flamingo really belongs there. Things in Rings is that game: simple enough to explain in thirty seconds, clever enough to keep everyone leaning forward.

What It Is

From allplay, the studio behind sharp, sociable games that reward lateral thinking, Things in Rings is a deduction party game built around a triple Venn diagram laid out in the centre of the table. One player takes on the role of The Knower — the only person who knows what secret rule governs each ring and each overlapping zone. Everyone else holds a hand of object cards and takes turns placing them into the diagram, trying to decode the hidden logic through placement, observation, and a little educated guesswork. Is it things that are soft? Things found in a kitchen? Things a penguin might enjoy? The Knower knows. You have to figure it out.

The genius is in how much information every card placement carries. A wrong guess is still data. A confident correct placement from across the table tells you something. The diagram fills, the picture sharpens, and the race to name all three hidden categories before anyone else becomes genuinely tense.

Who It's For

Things in Rings plays with three or more players and is light enough for anyone comfortable reading a card and thinking laterally — the recommended age of eight and up is accurate, and it works beautifully as a family game that adults won't be sitting through politely. It's fast, typically wrapping a round in under thirty minutes, which makes it a strong opener for a game night or a go-to when you want something social without a long setup. It earns its place as a gateway game that never feels condescending.

Features & Highlights

The physical Rings themselves are a nice touch — the Venn diagram isn't just drawn on a board, it's formed by placing the rings on the table, giving the game a tactile, open feel that invites players to huddle around it. The object cards span a wide and deliberately absurd range, which keeps The Knower's rule-setting creative and ensures no two games follow the same logic. allplay's characteristic clean graphic design makes the whole thing easy to read at a glance, even mid-debate.
