Description

The Weirder the Connection, the Better

There's a particular kind of laughter that only happens when someone links the Eiffel Tower, your dentist, and a submarine sandwich under the category "things that are longer than you'd expect" — and everyone at the table immediately sees it. That's the engine running Thing Thing, and once it clicks, the room rarely stays quiet for long.

What It Is

From D.V.C. Games, Thing Thing is a hand-management card game built around one beautifully simple tension: get rid of your cards by finding connections between them, but the category you use to make that connection might let your opponents dump their cards too. Places, people, objects, abstract concepts — the cards span everything imaginable. Play two or more together under a shared category ("reasons the party didn't go well," "hard to get to," "leaders in their field") and those cards leave your hand. The catch? If your category is good enough, everyone else might latch onto it and shed their own cards, which means you're drawing right back up. Clever play is generous play — sometimes too generous.

This is the second edition, arriving in new condition, with the expanded card pool that makes the connections stranger and the arguments more entertaining.

Who It's For

Thing Thing plays with two or more players and shines brightest with a full table of four to six. The rules are light enough to explain in under five minutes, making it a natural fit for game nights that include people who don't consider themselves "gamers," casual social gatherings, or any occasion where you want laughter more than strategy. The lateral-thinking, word-association nature of the game means it rewards creative minds — the player who finds the most unexpected connection usually has the most fun, even if they lose.

Features & Highlights

The card variety is what gives Thing Thing its staying power — with a wide spread of categories covering people, places, things, and concepts, the combinations feel genuinely fresh across multiple plays. The discard mechanic that lets other players piggyback on your category creates real table interaction: every connection you make is also a risk assessment. The 2nd Edition refines the card mix with cleaner wording and a broader range of prompts, so the game rewards both newcomers discovering it for the first time and groups coming back for another round.
