Description

Hold the Line — or Push Your Luck

There's a moment in every round of Freigard where the temptation becomes almost unbearable. Your hand is good — maybe good enough — but one more card could make it unstoppable. Do you commit now, or reach for something better and risk running out of time? That tension is the beating heart of this clever little game, and it never gets old.

Defend the Enchanted Land

From InPatience comes Freigard, a compact card game set in a fantastical realm under siege. Towering mechanical horrors — the Walking Castles — are marching on the peaceful kingdom, and only the most valiant defenders can turn them back. Players race to assemble the strongest hand of heroes and warriors, then deploy them to bring down increasingly fearsome mechanical invaders before the deck runs dry.

The rules are deceptively simple: each turn, you either play your current hand of three cards to score points and defeat enemies, or you draw an extra card and discard one to sharpen your options. That's it. But the decision sitting behind that choice is anything but simple. Draw too often and you burn through your deck too quickly, leaving nothing for the battles that matter most. Commit too early and you might not have the firepower to handle what's coming. Every round is a small act of calculated bravery — or reckless greed, depending on how it turns out.

Who This Is For

Freigard shines as a light, fast game for two to four players, and it's the kind of title that earns a permanent spot in a bag or on a shelf edge for spontaneous play. The rules are accessible enough to teach in minutes, making it a great entry point for newer players or families with older kids — but the push-your-luck tension keeps experienced gamers genuinely engaged. Sessions run short and sweet, which means one more game is always a reasonable suggestion.

What's in the Box

Freigard packages its mechanics into a tight, portable format with illustrated cards that bring the enchanted world to life — from the heroic defenders you'll recruit to the looming, mechanical dread of the Walking Castles themselves. The whimsical art style gives the game real shelf presence while keeping the tone playful rather than grim. Everything you need fits in a compact box that punches well above its size.
