Description

Prime and Base Coat in One Step

Leadbelcher is one of the most-reached-for cans in any miniature painter's collection. This aerosol spray lays down a smooth, even metallic base coat directly over primed or bare plastic, resin, and metal — covering large surfaces in seconds and leaving a consistent silver-steel finish that brushwork alone struggles to match. For vehicles, warjacks, Necrons, Space Marines in silver schemes, or any model heavy on armour plating, spraying Leadbelcher eliminates hours of base coating by hand.

Where It Fits in Your Workflow

Citadel Leadbelcher Spray functions as a base coat — it is not a primer, so it works best over a primed surface, though many hobbyists apply it directly to bare plastic for batch-coating infantry and vehicles. Once dry, the metallic finish takes washes and shades beautifully: a coat of Citadel Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade over Leadbelcher is one of the fastest routes to a finished, game-ready metallic surface in the hobby. Layer paints and edge highlights can then be added on top to bring up reflective surfaces and add depth. The 400ml can covers a substantial volume of models — far more economical than brush-applying a metallic base across an entire army.

Who Should Have a Can

Any painter working on armies with significant amounts of armour, machinery, or metal detail will find Leadbelcher Spray an essential addition to their supplies. It is system-agnostic — equally at home on a Warhammer 40,000 Ironstrider, a Warmachine warjack, an Age of Sigmar Kharadron Overlords dirigible, or any other miniature needing a metallic foundation. New hobbyists will appreciate the speed and consistency of a spray base coat over brush application; experienced painters often keep a can on hand specifically for vehicles and large centrepiece models. Apply outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, and avoid spraying in high humidity or temperatures below 15°C to ensure a smooth, even coat.
