Description

Stake Your Claim on the Galaxy's Wildest Frontier

The edge of the Andromeda Galaxy isn't a destination — it's a dare. Out here, beyond the reach of the Lords of Unity, desperate factions are scrambling to build something new from the ruins of a civilization that came before. Every moon you claim, every module you bolt onto your station, every battle you survive brings you one step closer to dominance — or oblivion. The tension in Andromeda's Edge doesn't come from a single moment; it builds across the entire arc of the game, tightening with every decision.

What It Is

From Lucky Duck Games and designer Luke Laurie — the mind behind Dwellings of Eldervale and Manhattan Project: Energy Empire — Andromeda's Edge is a deep space civilization-building game where players lead asymmetric factions competing to establish dominance on a modular, ever-changing map. You begin with little more than a space station and a handful of ships, then expand by placing those ships to gather resources, colonize planets, and attach powerful modules to your growing station. Five scoring tracks — Science, Industry, Commerce, Civilization, and Supremacy — mean there's rarely one obvious path to victory, and your rivals will be pushing hard on all of them.

The hex-based board shifts from game to game, enemy raiders patrol the region and demand a response, and the card-driven module system gives your station a genuinely unique identity by the time the final scores are tallied. This is the kind of game that rewards players who can think several moves ahead while reacting to chaos in the present.

Who It's For

Andromeda's Edge is a heavyweight strategy experience — plan on two to three hours for a full game once players know the rules. It plays one to four players, and it shines with three or four, where the competition across the scoring tracks stays fierce throughout. The solo mode is a full-featured option for strategy fans who want a challenge on their own time. This is a game for groups who enjoy real strategic depth and don't mind a learning curve — it's not a first-night game, but it's exactly the kind of game serious players come back to again and again.

Features & Highlights

The component list here is genuinely impressive: 30 custom starship miniatures across four player colors, a modular board built from 25 region hexes that guarantees a different map every session, 108 module cards that shape your station's engine, and 12 asymmetric faction cards that ensure no two players ever approach the game quite the same way. The upgradable starships double as your workers and your fighting force — a clever design choice that keeps the action feeling purposeful rather than mechanical. Raider standees add a persistent threat that no one can afford to ignore, and the dual-rulebook approach (main rules plus appendix) makes learning and referencing mid-game far less painful than it sounds.
