Gather, Bluff, and Outsmart Your Rivals Across Exandria

From Darrington Press — the publishing house founded by the cast of Critical Role — comes A Familiar Find, a charming card game set in the beloved world of Exandria. Your spellcaster has sent you on an urgent errand: scour every corner of this magical world and collect rare ingredients before the familiars of rival summoners can beat you to them. Easy enough, if those rivals weren't so keen on setting traps and filling the best-looking piles with the worst possible cards.

How It Plays

A Familiar Find is built around a deliciously simple tension: you want the good cards, and so does everyone else. On your turn, you scoop up an entire pile of ingredient cards and add them to your collection — then you place three cards from your hand back into the locations, two face-up and one hidden face-down. That hidden card is where the mischief lives. Seed a pile with something nasty, make it look appealing, and watch an opponent gleefully collect a hand full of regret. Over the course of the game, smart players are constantly weighing what to take now versus what to stash for a better moment — and whether that tempting pile is a windfall or a trap.

Fast rounds, meaningful decisions, and just enough bluffing to keep everyone at the table genuinely guessing. The Exandria setting gives the whole experience a warm, familiar glow for Critical Role fans, while the mechanics stand on their own for anyone new to the world.

Who It's For

A Familiar Find is designed for families, casual game nights, and fans of Critical Role who want something they can bring to the table without a rulebook tutorial. The rules are light enough for younger players to pick up quickly, but the strategic layer of card placement and bluffing keeps adults genuinely invested. It works equally well as a quick opener before a bigger game or as the main event for a relaxed evening. No knowledge of Critical Role or Exandria is needed to enjoy it — though fans of the show will find plenty to love in the setting and flavour.
