Leder Games – Root & More

Woodland Might and Right

Leder Games is known for asymmetric strategy games, where every player controls a different faction with its own rules, abilities and path to victory. Paired with charming, storybook artwork, this approach makes Leder titles some of the most talked-about games in the hobby. They reward playing again and again, since every seat at the table offers a completely different experience. Asymmetric games can look complex at first, but Leder's games are built to be taught one faction at a time, and every faction board explains exactly what that player needs to do. After a game or two, most groups are hooked on discovering how each faction plays and how they clash.

Root is the flagship: a game of woodland conflict where the industrious Marquise de Cat, the proud Eyrie Dynasties, the rebellious Woodland Alliance and a wandering Vagabond fight for control of the forest. Expansions like The Riverfolk, The Underworld, The Marauder and the Homeland expansion add new factions and maps, and the Hirelings packs bring in extra characters for every player count. There's even a Root puzzle and playmat for dedicated fans. Ahoy brings the same asymmetric style to the high seas in a quicker game for two to four players.
