Dice & Dice Sets

Gaming dice are small, polyhedral objects used in various tabletop games, primarily role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons. Unlike standard six-sided dice (d6), gaming dice come in a variety of shapes and sides, often referred to by their number of faces:

  1. d4 (Four-Sided Die): A pyramid-shaped die, with each face forming a triangle. It usually lands on its base, with the number displayed at the top.
  2. d6 (Six-Sided Die): The classic cube-shaped die, with numbers or pips on each face. This is the most common and widely recognized type of die.
  3. d8 (Eight-Sided Die): This die is shaped like two pyramids joined at the base, creating an octahedron. Each face is a triangle.
  4. d10 (Ten-Sided Die): Shaped like a pentagonal trapezohedron, this die has ten faces and is often used in percentile rolls (where two d10s are rolled together, with one representing the tens digit and the other the units).
  5. d12 (Twelve-Sided Die): A dodecahedron, where each face is a pentagon. It is less commonly used but often appears in specific types of rolls.
  6. d20 (Twenty-Sided Die): The iconic die for role-playing games, shaped like an icosahedron with triangular faces. It’s used for determining the outcomes of actions, attacks, and checks.
  7. d100 (One Hundred-Sided Die): Rare and sometimes referred to as a "Zocchihedron," this large, round die is used for rolling percentile results. It's not as common as rolling two d10s.

Gaming dice are often made of plastic, but they can also be found in metal, resin, or other materials. They come in various colors, finishes (matte, glossy, or translucent), and designs, sometimes with intricate engravings or special themes. The numbers or symbols on the dice are usually etched or printed on the surfaces and can be painted in contrasting colors to ensure visibility.
