One Coat. Shading, Colour, and Highlights Done.
There's a particular satisfaction in watching a wash of colour settle into every recess and pull a model to life in minutes. The Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0 takes that idea further — a single application lays down intense colour, shading in the recesses, and a subtle highlight effect all at once. It dries fast enough that you can pick up a standard acrylic and start refining highlights in minutes, not after a long wait. For anyone painting a large force, a backlog of models, or just getting their first miniature table-ready, this is a genuinely useful tool to have on the bench.
How It Works
Speedpaint 2.0 is a contrast-style paint — formulated to flow across a surface and pool naturally into shadows while leaving higher areas lighter. Broadsword Silver works best applied over a light or white primer, which lets the metallic pigment do its job without a tonal fight underneath. The 2.0 formula builds on the original Speedpaint range with improved reactivation resistance, meaning you can layer over a dried coat with a standard acrylic without lifting the paint below. That makes it genuinely compatible with the rest of your painting workflow rather than requiring a sealed layer in between. Each bottle is 18ml with a dropper tip — a solid amount of paint that gives you precise control over every application.
Who It's For
New painters will find Speedpaint 2.0 one of the most forgiving tools in the hobby — prime a model, apply a coat, and you have something that looks finished and painted. Experienced hobbyists use it to batch-coat rank-and-file units quickly before spending detail time on characters and centrepiece models. Broadsword Silver is a natural fit for armour plates, chainmail, mechanical parts, and weaponry across any game system. It works equally well on Warhammer 40,000 Space Marines, Age of Sigmar warriors, Warmachine warjacks, skirmish game warbands, or board game miniatures — plastic, metal, or resin. It is not locked to any system. If you paint miniatures, Speedpaint 2.0 has a place in your collection.
