Description

A Warm Base Coat, Ready for the Brush

Fur Brown is one of those foundational colours that earns its place on the hobby desk and stays there. As a spray primer from The Army Painter's Colour Primer range, it does two jobs at once — it primes bare plastic, resin, or metal and lays down a rich, earthy brown base coat in a single pass. That means less time brushing on base coats and more time getting into the details. The colour is warm and natural, sitting comfortably in the range that covers leather, fur, bark, soil, wooden weapons, and earth-toned armour. If you're painting anything that spends time outdoors, lives underground, or is made from dead things, Fur Brown is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

How It Fits Your Workflow

Spray primers work best when they anchor your entire paint job from the start. Fur Brown gives you a pre-shaded midtone to work from — dark recesses read as shadow straight off the spray, leaving highlights to be picked out with lighter browns, tans, or creams. This is especially effective for speed painting with contrast or wash-based techniques, where a coloured undercoat does much of the shading work automatically. Applied at the right distance in dry conditions, it produces a smooth, slightly matte surface that takes brush-applied paints cleanly without the tooth problems that sometimes come with cheaper primers. The Army Painter Colour Primers are compatible with Citadel, Vallejo, and virtually any water-based acrylic paint line used in the tabletop hobby.

Who Should Pick This Up

Fur Brown is a workhorse primer for painters working through large batches of models where brown is a dominant colour in the scheme — barbarian warbands, undead hordes, beastmen, wood elf forces, historical infantry, or any range where leather and natural materials feature heavily. New painters will appreciate that a coloured primer shortens the painting process significantly, giving a finished-looking result faster. Experienced painters batch-priming an entire army between seasons will reach for it regularly. If you're already buying spray primer anyway, choosing a colour matched to your project is one of the easiest time-saving habits in the hobby.
