Description

Build Your Basecoat from the Ground Up

A strong paint job starts before the first brushstroke. Army Painter's Colour Primer in Army Green lays down a smooth, even coat of colour directly over bare plastic, resin, or metal — combining the priming and base coating steps into one. The result is a solid foundation of rich, military green that's ready for highlighting, shading, and detail work straight out of the can. No more painting basecoats over grey primer and hoping for coverage. This does both jobs at once.

A Workhorse Colour for Any Green Scheme

Army Green is a versatile mid-tone military green — muted enough to read as realistic camouflage on infantry and vehicles, but warm enough to layer over with highlights without losing depth. It's a natural fit for military-themed warbands, orc and goblin armies, jungle fighters, and any force where field-worn green is part of the identity. The colour works equally well across game systems — Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar, Warmachine, historicals, or any other 28mm project sitting on your hobby table. Once primed, a quick wash and a highlight layer can have models looking table-ready in a fraction of the time.

What to Know Before You Spray

Like all aerosol spray primers, Army Green performs best in dry conditions between roughly 15°C and 25°C. Spraying in high humidity or cold weather can cause surface texture issues — if conditions aren't right, wait for a better day. Apply in light, even passes from about 25–30cm away and let each pass dry before adding more. The primer bonds directly to bare model surfaces and accepts all acrylic hobby paints — Citadel, Vallejo, Army Painter's own range, and others. A light coat is all that's needed; heavy application fills in fine details and defeats the purpose.
