Description

Silver That Does the Work For You

Metallics are one of the most satisfying colours to land well — and one of the easiest to get wrong. Polished Silver from Army Painter's Speedpaint 2.0 range takes the guesswork out of it. A single pass over a primed model delivers a bright, cold silver that self-shades into recesses and lifts naturally on raised edges, giving armour plates, blades, and mechanical components the kind of depth that normally takes two or three separate stages to achieve. The result is a metallic that reads as finished, not rushed.

How Speedpaint 2.0 Works

Speedpaint 2.0 is a high-flow, heavily pigmented formula engineered to react to a model's contours. On flat surfaces it lays down a solid, saturated base. On raised surfaces the paint thins and brightens into a natural highlight. In recesses and panel lines it pools and deepens, producing shadow and definition without a separate wash step. Apply it over a white or grey primer, let it settle, and the shading is already done — ready to highlight or leave as-is depending on how much time you want to invest. The 2.0 formula dries stable and non-reactive, so standard acrylics can be layered directly on top without reactivating or lifting the Speedpaint beneath. Edge highlights, freehand, and detail work all go on cleanly once the base coat has dried.

Who Should Pick This Up

New painters get an immediate return — Polished Silver delivers a convincing metallic finish without needing to understand wash ratios, layering order, or blending technique. Load a brush, apply, and move on. For experienced painters, it earns its place as a batch-painting tool: rank-and-file infantry, vehicles, and warbands with heavy metallics can be base coated and shaded in a single session, freeing up time for the models that matter most. Polished Silver works across any scale and any game system — sci-fi power armour, fantasy plate, steam-driven warjacks, skirmish warbands, and roleplaying miniatures all respond to the same technique. The 18ml bottle covers a full unit comfortably.
