Magic: The Gathering — Foundations

Where Every Magic Journey Begins.

Magic: The Gathering - Foundations is the game's definitive entry point — a Core Set reimagined for a new generation of players while carrying enough depth and reprints to matter for veterans across every format. Foundations blends 133 new cards with 136 carefully chosen reprints, featuring iconic planeswalkers, legendary creatures, and quintessential spells from across Magic's 30-year history in one set designed to represent the game at its best. Every colour is anchored by two flagship faces — a planeswalker and a legendary creature — giving new players recognisable heroes to build around from their very first pack. Most importantly, Foundations is Standard-legal until at least 2029, giving every card in the set the longest competitive shelf life of any Magic expansion. Whether you're teaching someone to play, building your first Standard deck, filling gaps in a Commander collection, or looking for a clean Draft experience, Foundations is where it starts.

The product lineup is built with accessibility at every level. The Beginner Box is a genuine learn-to-play product — ten Jumpstart decks, a reference booklet, playmats, and everything two people need to sit down and play their first game of Magic with zero prior experience. The Starter Collection scales things up with over 350 cards including Commander staples, giving a new player an instant foundation for deckbuilding across formats. Jumpstart Boosters offer the fastest path to gameplay — shuffle two themed 20-card packs together and play immediately, no deckbuilding required. Play Booster boxes are the standard for Draft, Sealed, and set collection, while Collector Booster boxes deliver the premium card treatments, Special Guests subset, and Japan Showcase Fracture foils. Foundations Commander decks — five preconstructed decks releasing October 2, 2026 alongside Reality Fracture — round out the product range for the most popular format in Magic.

Foundations is an evergreen product — not a limited release that comes and goes with a launch window. It's designed to stay in print, stay in stock, and stay relevant for years. That makes it one of the safest purchases in Magic for gift-givers, new players, and anyone building a collection with long-term playability in mind. Protect your cards with quality card sleeves and a reliable deck box, and explore our full Magic: The Gathering collection for sealed products, singles, and accessories across every current set.
